305 guys I need help choosing a cam
Its my daily driver so I dont want something too big. I put the choices in the poll at the top. By the time I get around to putting this cam in Im going to change to 3.23s or 3.42s. Im not going to do anything much else to the engine except headers, AFPR, grinding down the egr ears and the walls. Im not going to change the runners or anything because Im going to get an LT1 and 6 spd pretty soon and I dont want to put too much into it, I just want something that will keep up to mustangs and quick daily drivers, like low 14's or something like that. Which cam will work better, one of them claims to go to 5200, is it worth it since Im not changing the intake at all? Id rather go a little slower and keep my stock stuff for now. Also when I do this Im going to be making my own chips so I can tune it as much as I can. Id also rather have a broad tourqe curve rather than a peaky engine since its my daily driver and a five speed. Sorry about the longness but Ive been thinking about this for a while. Thanks for any help

Dont waste time with 3.23s or 3.42s, go for the gusto and slap in a set of 3.73s.
I just want something that will keep up to mustangs and quick daily drivers, like low 14's or something like that.
Something as small as a F-body LT1 cam will give you low to mid 14's. But you have a M5 and all ready have the abilities to run well into the 14's with all the other mods stated above.

Dont us ethier of those cams use this one Nice cam for a 305 . It will give you all the power you need for low 14's or even into the 13's. Just for comparision here is the cam I just ordered for my less than a daily driver 305, even though it could be. Bigger 305 cam
As for burn your own chips if you make a cam change you should make a tune change. Can you run good with out tune, Yes look at my car. Can I run better if I had a tune to my LT1 cam, yes.

The "Nice cam for a 305" says not for computers but that wont matter if I can change the tuning right? also with that cam would the 3.23s work better, I was leaning more towards them anyway and since that cam goes to 4500 they seem like the best choice. I might just go with that cam if I can get it to work with the tpi. The most I want to change on my engine is the valve springs and Im going to get roller rockers for sure.

My cam is good for a 305 or 350 TPI. The rpm range is 1200-5200rpm. It is recommended for 305 or 350 TPI with stock or modified intake.
It's a Comp Cams. here's the specs-
480/480 lift
210/220 duration @ .050
108 intake centerline
112 LSA.
Here's some sound clips -
Through the Flowmaster
Open cutout

that sounds pretty nasty
, how does that cam pull? i want torque all the time at any rpm, wouldnt a 112lsa or higher with less overlap have more "all the time" torque

The pull is awesome. My max horsepower is around 4600-4700rpm. Max torque is at 3100rpm.
The powerband is very broad, no peaky points or anything. I would recommend stiffer valve springs though.

As mentioned above, don't forget about the valve springs. They are inexpensive but essential.

When are you going to get that thing dynod in 3rd gear? I've been dying to hear the numbers for that 335 since you built it.

If I had money for Z rated tires I would go dyno again, but I don't
I don't know if you read my previous posts but my first attempt in 3rd gear, at around 125-130mph my rear tires were wrinkling because they're not speed rated high enough
So I had to shut down.
But I figure in 3rd gear with the cutout open, around 250rwhp and 360rwtq? Probably springtime I'll have new numbers.
