more wiring questions
I have more random wires that i don't know where they go. Please help.
The blue circle contains an orange wire and a yellow wire.
The yellow circle contains a gray wire and a black with purple stripe wire
The red circle contains a black wire and a purple with black stripe wire.
Where do these wires conncect to? Also what wire connects to the nipple shaped sensor on driver side of the block just below the head? Also i have a wire that is on the same harness as the two A/C wires, i have it labeled as going on the front of the engine, where does this wire go? the power steering pump maybe?
thanks again
JP

I now found the correct location of the wire in the blue circle, it connects to the back of engine near the tranny on the driver side. I'm getting close now, i can't wait to hear this thing fire up.

ok, it turns out my loose wire connects to that nipple shaped sensor (coolant temp sending unit). So now I only have to locate the connector for the yellow circled wire. Can anyone help? I feel like i'm talking to myself

the wire in the yellow circle is for the mat sensor harness. it does not connect directly to a sensor but a short hanress instead. that short harness then connects to the mat sensor. the sensor located underneath the plenum (bottom of TPI).

I hate to be a pest but i've spent two full days looking for this d*mn connection. I think i'm missing something obvious. Are there any sensors in this shape on the back of the block? Anyone have any ideas? I don't think it connectors to TPI b/c i've accounted for all those wires (i think). However I assume this connection is on the engine somewhere b/c i don't know why i would disconnect something that i wouldn't need to pull the engine. But then again i've done stupider things before.

hmmm, i'll check it out. So i guess the wire that connects to the MAT harness now should be connected to the EGR solinoid?
Any ideas on the red circle? I got another response suggesting that camaros and firebirds have the same wiring harness and this is the VSS wire, but since camaros don't have VSS this connector doesn't go anywhere. Do you agree?

I doubt the VSS theory, personally, but I am not familiar with Camaros with cable drive speedos either. I *think* the yellow circled one is for the EGR control solenoid and the red one is for the MAT sensor harness.
But you really ought to get yourself a decent wiring diagram if you are going to dig into an engine such as this.
If you can't afford a quality manual or aren't sure if you will use it a lot, go to your local library and ask them if they have a Motor All Data account. Most do around here and charge something like $.10 a copy to print off pages.
If you aren't aware, All Data basically takes the GM service manual (or appropriate one for other makes) and scans it in and lets you look at it online, page by page, as well as print it out if you would like.
There is nothing like a quality service manual when doing electrical work. And the GM ones are the best. They will give you accurate wiring diagrams, pin locations on connectors, component locations on the car, wire size, wire color, and circuit descriptions that tell you exactly how the components function...
The site is here for help if you need it, but if you are going to play with cars you really ought to learn how to do it properly and on your own. Nobody comes out of the womb knowing all sorts of stuff about cars... Those that do know a decent amount have spent countless hours pouring over various manuals.

I don't know if you are tying to rip me or not. I'm simply asking where 1 wire is located. I can't find this wire on my chilton wiring diagram. Perhaps the GM one could help, but since I don't have one i'm asking here. I think having 1 wire left after a complete engine removal rebuild and install is not all that bad.

Tell me what color the wires are going to those connectors.
Pink/blk w/gray goes to the EGR (might be the yellow circle). If the red circle plug has purple & yellow wires that would go to the elctronic speed sens. on the trans. or it could be the blue one. IAT(or mat) would be the plug with a tan wire and a blk. wire.

The only one I need to find yet is the red circle.
The red circle contains a black wire and a pink with black stripe wire
