Idle and TPS

ok, I did a search and without much luck I have a bit of a problem. I have a new STOCK throttlebody, mine looked all dirty and nasty so I thought I would swap it out.

My problem is this: When I installed the new Throttlebody the idle was all messed up, so I had to adjust the idle so it would continue to run.

My question is this How do I properly adjust my idle back to factory specs, I would assume it would involve warming up the car and unplugging the IAC, and adjust to a certain RPM, then adjust the TPS to the .55Volts as my 87 book specifies. WHAT is the proper sequence and settings for getting it correct? What is the base RPM.

I read Vaders Thing on adjusting the TPS, but it does not go into how to set the idle initially.

i dont know exact what to set it at, but the IAC pin has to be pushed in or reset to a certain distance. there should be like a screw with a spring around it with a coe on the end... If you kinda wiggle it around, you will be able to move it in and out... TPS is basicly you need a voltmeter or a scanner to see the voltage and just losen the tps sensor thats on the tb... move it slightly till you get near or at .55 volts... thats all i know from focking around with my car and reading other threads... good luck.

thanks Al,
I got that much from other threads too, but there should be an original idle setting for the idle before setting the TPS to .55 Volts...

I did it by unplugging the iac, then start it and adjust the idle to the idle I wanted (600rpm), turn it off, plug the iac back in, let it adjust itself back to 600, then readjust the tps.
