What sensors are needed for startup?

I just got my rebuilt 355 TPI installed and I can't get it started. I have fuel, spark and timing, i think. But it still won't start. I think maybe one of my sensors kicked the can. Which ones are needed by the ecm for start-up?

Also, it now has KB flat top pistons and a ZZ4 cam, i was under the impression this would be fine with the stock computer, is this my problem?

Usually the problem with "new engine, no start" is plug wire routing and timing.

Reverify the plug wires are routed correctly...then bring #1 to TDC on compression strocke, and make sure the rotor is just shy of the #1 plug on the cap.

I don't think a sensor just went south...

mine isnt a new motor but someone just told me that it very well could be the timing chain. if it is how much does this cost to replace and how do i know if it is the timing chain

Best to start a new thread, but...

If the timing chain has broke, you'd hear some gosh-awful noise from the front of the engine...barring that, you'd be able to rotate the engine, and the rotor would not move.

Now if you suspect it slipped (highly doubtful as well) then check piston travel to TDC on #1 cyl, verify #1 gets to TDC before the valves open..(need to pull valve cover to verfiy).

What trouble shooting have you done?

Got it started. Turns out the engine builder gave me the engine #6 TDC, not #1 TDC, so the dizzy was 180* off. Sounds sweet.

troubleshooting
So far I have checked for spark which I got. I can see the carb squirt fuel into the carb and I've even used starting fluid so dont think that its the fuel pump because if it was it would at least run with the starting fluid. I messed with the timing but without a light or mark indicator its really hard now thats just probably really messed up. Also the distributor was tight when I moved it so it didn't just bump. I checked the fuses under the dash didn't see any bad ones. I really dont know what else it could be. Plz Help Thx.
