Still have a code 33

Help!!!
I have a code 33 with the usuall problems. After the engine reaches 195 it starts running like... well you know. I have replaced the MAF, Power Relay, and the Burnoff relay. I have a ECM on order for tomorrow. I checked and set the TPS and IAC they are both on. Allthough setting them did help. I reacetly set the timing the right way. It is now 9/10 deg. and I put a 195 deg thermostat in it. I checked and tightened all the inlet ducting. I cleaned the connections. Why does it happen rite at engine warm up. arround 195 degs.
PLEASE HELP
Greg

Because the ECM ignores the MAF until it enters closed loop.
Timing is too far advanced, stock setting is 6 deg BTDC.

May want to try GENTLY tapping the maf housing with a screwdriver handle and see if the code will come on sooner. Also, ohm out your coolant temp sensor (or just replace it, not expensive).

Thank You for the for the speedy responce.
I want to clairify would the timing make this happen? or is mine just to high
Could it be my coolent temp sensor?
And should I still replace my ECM? When I am talking new on the MAF, I did it twice thinking I had a bad one, Same thing.
I am sorry I forgot to tell you that I have a:
1988 Trans Am with a 305 auto and a 1227165 ECM

Thanks
Greg

The timing shouldn't be causing the code to be set, its just high and could be causing driveability problems. The CTS could be influencing the MAF code, yes. You can try slaving in the new ECM and see if that does anything, if not just return it.

Code 33 fixed "hurray"

Thanks
This what I did;
Replaced the MAF twice................................$190.00
Replaced the PWR and Burn Off Relays.........$ 26.00 each
Set TPS and IAC..........................................$ labor
checked and cleaned all plugs......................$ labor
That did mot do it then I replaced the;
ECM and the CTS and now fixed! YEA...........$ 75.00 and 19.00
Cheaper then a shop.
I want to thank all of you for the help and advice. I came into this with no knowlage now I am pretty confident.

One more question. My timing is set to 9 BTDC is that to high? I know it calls for 6 should I set it for 6? I have come to trust the input I get from this sight. I will do what you tell me.:lala: :hail:

Do you have a scanner you can hook to the car? Or a laptop running Craig Moates' software? If so, hook it up and drive the car, see if you are getting knock counts, especially at WOT, if you are, set the timing back to 6 and try it again. My car has always been real sensitive to base timing, it runs like crap at anything but the base 6 degrees.

timing to 6

It seems to run fine but..... I have no scanner or lap top just my ear to check. I am not going to chance it. I am blindly takinging your advice and returning it to 6.
Thank You Mr Morley

As long as you are using the stock chip (ie base timing not changed on it) you can't go wrong usiong the factory base timing.
