88' TPI to 86' TPI Harness

I'm in progress of negotiations of getting a 350 TPI with 88' TPI that is MAF. My 86' is MAF so would my 86' wiring harness match up? Is the altenator on the opposite side of the engine on a 350 campared to 305? It seems like every picture I've seen the 350 alt. is on the right whil the 305 is on the left. What can I do to solve this? Just put the 305 accesories on front of the 350?

All 88s have the alternator on the driver side. All 87s have them on the passenger side.

There are plenty of differences from 86 to 88, but none that will prevent you from using the 88 350 with your wiring harness. Just swap your accessories over to the new motor, make sure you use the 350 injectors, and get a custom chip made, or at the very least, get one for an 87 L98 f-body. You'll need to use your original distributer, or make a VERY MINOR altercation to your chassis harness to use the 88's small cap distributer.

Yeah the engine comes with a custom ECM to match a different cam that is in it. It needs an alternator cause he is keeping it so doing the switch won't be much of an added problem. I thought I might have to switch the distributor.

Thanks man!
