Engine Build up
Hey guys. Got a few questions for ya. hopefully there are a few of ya that have already built what I want.
***** I live in california******* Being able to smog with this combo is very important.
I want to build eather a 350TPI or 383 TPI. if a 383 will smog. I will go with the 383.
Supercharged! It will be a centrifugal supercharger.
I want 375+hp and 450+fp of tq.
I will spend $$$$ to do it right. If it takes me till the spring to have the money to build it right... so be it.
My main goal with this car, 91 Camaro rs auto, is to be able to murder the stangs and 4th gen camaro/birds. I want mid-low 12`s. and drivability.
Over the fall/winter I am doint the entire suspension/breaks/wheels-tires. So the car will be ready for some serious power.
I need help with knowing what will and what wont work with SMOG.

As long as all the visible parts are legal, then you just have to pass the idle and loaded tests. You have to be able to pass the visual no mater what. You will eventually get sent to a test only shop by the DMV. So it won't matter if your buddy/$$ gets you by on the visual.
Then with conservative cam selection and tuning, you should pass easily. Even with a 383. A 383 w/ LPE 219/219 cam and a SR with AFR heads should meet your HP #. You could go with cheaper ProTopline heads, but you might need a bigger cam and/or porting. 200cc Toplines aren't legal, but look stock so shouldn't be a problem.
You might want to switch to a TPI first and learn how to burn your own chips. The stock TPI is a cork as far as HP is concerned. So the intake will be the biggest problem as far as smog checks go.
With a HSR/SR, don't know if it's legal, and a 383, you'll meet your HP goals w/o a blower.
The blower kits include a Fuel Management Unit which compensates for the boost to keep your fuel correct. Since your swapping, you could get a 749 ECM instead of the usual 730. They have the programing for boost fuel/timing control from the factory. A better method of control.
