oil cooler coolant lines

I'm rebuilding a 350 TPI and I wanted to replace the old oil cooler coolant lines with rubber tubing. Would it be ok to use heater hose? Thanks a lot.

I'd be worried about them flopping around and hitting the harmonic balancer...stick w/ the steel tubes.

Are you talking about the "entire" set of cooler lines or are you just referring to the rubber hose part of it?

Well, you could. But an extra few feet of rubber hose, snaking through / past several moving engine parts would make me pretty nervous. I'd get rid of the oil cooler altogether before i risked such a potential compromise of my cooling system.

Fun Fact of the day: When the corvette went to M1 factory fill in the LT1s. GM stopped using an oil cooler. So even the general would tell you that good oil negates the need for the stock cooler
