need help with performance

i have a 1987 gta trans am with L 98 5.7 L motor. the motor is a new stock motor. i have tpis air foil, afpr, flowtech headers and y pipe, flowmaster exhast, and a hypertech chip. fuel pressure is set at 44 with vac and it reads 54 with out vac. the base timing is 8* btdc. here are my times at the track with the hypertech and the stock chip.

that was with the hypertech chip thats with the stock chip

please help me i know it can run faster and i don't want to get beat by all the ford mustangs in my area because they all run in the low 14's to high 13's. btw i live in kansas. thaxs

Lower your FP. For a stock engine with headers you don't really need more than the stock fuel pressure. If you are still running the original 22# injectors then try 44-48psi with the vacuum line disconnected and plugged. It should read mid 30s with the vacuum line connected.

After you lower the fuel pressure to about 44, try bumpin up the timing to 10* and see what that does on the stock chip......and then practice your 60ft times. Youd be suprised how much you can gain by practicing that. Also, check your trans fluid to make sure its full. I was off in my old 91 with the L98, and a guy checked my tranny fluid, filled it.....and I was right where it should have been. Just my .02....good luck
