Schrader Valve - Not tapped!!
Couldn't figure out why I was getting no pressure at the Schrader valve - so since I was swapping out the EGR and thermostat anyway, I decided to go ahead and pull the valve out of the fuel rail to see if there was some crud in there, or if I had a bad valve or something. It turns out that the machined fitting in the fuel rail never actually entered the fuel carrying portion of the rail!! It's a blind tap - goes nowhere, and accesses nothing, so I get nothing on my attempts to check fuel pressure!
I suppose someday I'll have to pull the rail and machine it the rest of the way, but it's too much trouble right now - gotta get it smogged by Wed, and so I think I'll save that for another day.
Oh yeah - and did you ever feel like you take two steps forward and one back? Busted the plastic fitting on the TV cable while I was taking things apart - so now I have to replace the TV cable - WONDERFUL.
