Scanner readings with MAF unplugged?

According to my AutoXray my MAF is registering 3228gr/sec with the MAF unplugged and the car running or not. I've heard that the AutoXray can be inaccurate but I'm wondering what readings others are getting with it unplugged. Please let me know what type of scanner you are using also. Thanks.

the readings your probably getting is the pre-set "limp home mode" setting the chip has if the MAF fouls up.

What did you decide on this? My AutoXray is doing the same thing showing 1280 gr/sec with the MAF disconnected on my '88 L89 GTA. It also did the same thing on a buddies 1985 Corvette. Also on both cars, it sends them to a high idle when scanning. Did you ever try a different scanner than an autoXray to see if you MAF was functioning correctly? I am throwing no codes whatsoever, I am just fighting a BLM of 108 (rich condition).

Did see your other threads on this, but none of them had a conclusion.. Thanks..

Yup, when the MAF is unplugged, the ecm automatically enters a limp home mode, which uses pre-set MAF values to keep the car running.

Why does it give us numbers in the thousands instead of a preset number in the 0-255 grams/sec range. What gets me is why I don't throw a code neither. Any thoughts? Pat
