chugging? surging? help

it started with the car jumping between 2000-2500 rpm only i replaced the dist cap & rotor it got worse. then we found one of the plug wires hit exaust so we replaced wires & plugs. car still didn't run right so it was suggested that the fuel filter was bad. i changed that no effect. the guy whose looking at it now wants me to find out what the fuel pressure should be so he can test it. if anyone can tell me this or anything that might get my baby running good again would be greatly apprieceated.

thanx

Really depends on what type of engine/induction system you have. Just last week I left my osmosis helmet at work, and haven't had time to pick it up.

Ooops, just realized I was on the TPI Board...you should have 36-38psi at idle, around 43-45psi with vacuum line to the regulator disconnected.

Hope this helps?
