L98 Heads

How do I tell whether or not I have L98 heads on a remaufactured engine?

083's came on the later L98 heads and are the better heads to have. There were other #'s as well (that I can't recall) that aren't worth wasting your time if you're looking for performance.

416 is the casting number for the (perimiter bolt valve cover) "better" 305 heads. 083s came on the L98 350s in firebirds and camaros.
