Is it possible to change the small cap HEI distributor in a tuned port car for a non computer controlled car with out having any major effects on the way the car runs, i was thinking of getting a points distrbutor and converting to electronic with the pertronix kit. if any one has any comments or ideas please let me know. thnks

You'll still have to provide the reference signal to the ECM so it knows how fast the engine is turning. Other than that it should work fine... just no knock sensor any more.

For the money, you can buy a stock replacement dist. from MSD. It is a direct bolt on replacment, and is MUCH better than the stock one.
Why do you want to replace your distributor? The way you mention in your post would remove the computer from the timing control "loop". Not sure why you would want to......

well I'm runing a sbc 327 bored .030 over which comes up to 332 cubic inches, it's got a holley stealth ram, full length headers, 9.15:1 compression, .477/.480 lift 268/280 duration, 24lbs injectors, 58cc throttle body, 3inch exhaust, its got a 3.27 rear end, and a 700R4 trans, i need a custom chip made, for a cheap price and no one will make it , some one help me please.

For the same money as a converted old style distributor you could just start burning chips. So rather than setting weights, springs and vacuum advance cans and a bunch of stuff to go wrong, you just have this.
vacuum vs. RPMs Easy as that. And even better, notice what i have going on @3200 @ 100kpa. That extra timing makes it hit my 3k stall converter harder, then tails off to normal levels through the powerband. You cannot do that with an old style distributor, at least without adding more electronics.
And wit the chip burning stuff there are a million other little things you can do to. Like change fan turn on temps, or adjust for an injector size change, or even <gasp> tuning the fuel too.
