Jumpy Oil pressure gauge

Hello there, I hope everyone had a great holiday, :-)

Every once in a while my oil pressure gauge will jump around. Sometimes it wil pin itself passed 60psi and then drop back to normal and hop around. Then it goes away and doesnt happen for another couple months. Any thoughts? Maybe the sending unit? Thanks in advance

crappy sending units + innacurate gauges = common thirdgen F-body problem.

Maybe the sending unit?
very likely

If it is the Oil pressure sensor, I'd get it fixed fast. Mine went and about a day later I had the fastest oil leak EVER!

That can also be a sign of a bad/spun bearing, I have a mech gauge in my vette and had a main bearing go, the pressure would jump around during high rpm usage, above 3000.
