If its a roller block, yes. The ZZ4 head is a good upgrade for the 305. There is a debate on if teh 1.94 valve is too big for the 305's bore, but I have never heard of any problems.

It should work fine. Those are vette heads! They will flow a little better than the cast L98 heads and have more compression. Good choice for a 305 I'd say. You could probably go with a steel shim gasket to get a little more compression without detenation since they are aluminum.
Good luck,
Charlie

Felpro claims their 1094 embossed steel shim gasket is supposed to work with aluminum heads, do they not work?

Don't go with a steel shim. The factory ZZ4 and L98 engines came with a .051 gasket. GM sells a .028 composition head gasket (I forget the P/N) that should raise your compression by half a point over the factory, I believe.

Check your quinch height when you pull your heads, that is why I went with steel shim on my iron headed L98. The pistons are all .025 in the hole on it and I did some chamber work too so I needed the compression back up, so I had the heads milled .010" and used a .015 steel shim gasket. With the small bore of the 305 you will not have as much compression as a 350 would either, so you might want to have them milled to get it up.
Good luck,
Charlie
