Car won't idle help!!
I have an 89 formula tpi 350 that I resently purchased parts for and me and my buddy put in. Well after everything was said and done we cranked it and she ran great but the lifters were not passing oil. So thinking of saving time I took it in and they put new lifters and put her back together and she would not start. Only way is to play with throttle. well we put a scan tool on it and within minutes the tool would not be connected and say check connection to aldl. But it was fine so we thought the comp was bad so I bought a new one and stuck a new oem prom in and it still did the same thing and even with my fastchip. So I disconnected the maf to see if it will idle and it did so I got an new maf and it didn't idle again so we ruled that out. It is strange because there are no codes. The shop who has it told me "it will never run without a custom chip" I told him it was running before on my Fast chip. I know it isn't that because heard and saw it run.
here are the mods
afr 190 heads 2.02 int 1.6 exh 68cc
zz9 cam with 1.6 rr new oem lifters(crane)
58mm throttle body fully ported upper and lower intake, siamesed upper and lower with slp runners
new timing set
edelbrock tes headers 1 5/8 to 3 in collector to 3in cat back
24lb svo injectors

We hooked up a tech1 scanner to it lastnight and all the sensors are reading proper, so we took the valve covers off and losened the rocker arms so they would be sure to close the intake valve(heard major misfire from the intake plenum). When we started up the car again it was the same and I am for sure that those int valves should be closing completley this way but I am still getting the popping from the intake. I am thinking when that guy put it back together he had the rr's adjusted to tight and I think the int. valves might be bent! Or maybe I will get lucky and it is just sparking at the wrong time.
Disconnect your IAC connector and open the butterflies a little with the adjustment screw. If it idles like that, chances are either your IAC is stuck closed or their is something wrong on the circuit. The computer will flash a code everytime something is faulty. Your setup will idle with factory chip- may not be a perfectly smooth idle, but it will idle.
