i know its off in the distance(over a year) before i start building my motor for my camaro but i was doing some playing around last night and was wondering what you guys think of this:
Jegs Part Number Part Description Price
356-103503750 383cid 3.750" Stroke Cast Steel 192.99 crank
356SIR5700BPLW 5140 steel-5.700" Pressed 299.99 rods
648-kb120.030 Flat top piston +.030"-hypereutectic 175.92 pistons
844-r9401.035 speed-pro Plasma Moly Piston ring set 98.99 piston rings
844-1235M Federal Mogul Cam Bearings 15.99 bearings
844-139M Federal Mogul Main Bearings 46.99 bearings
844-8-7100CH Federal Mogul Rod Bearings 49.99 bearings
782-327-1C Pete Jackson Gear drive 142.99 timining gear drive
i know its kinda hard to read but i cant upload the file that i typed it into. if you want i would like a recomended cam and heads for this motor. i will mostlikely be putting a Super Ram on it.

hey man, good luck with your oncomming project. alot of people recomend the ZZ9 cam or cc305 i think they are, i dont know much about it so i just went with my own idea, soon ill be ordering a crane "emissions" cam it only has .454/.480 lift but im buying a set of cheap 1.6 rockers to up it a little to .488/.512 and keep the loser duration for the TPI iv got part numbers and prices if you wish the cam im getting is non roller because putting a roller in my 400 is too much for me. but if you had some SLP runners and porting to your plenum(upper and lower) and the right fuel. and a good exhaust system(1 3/4 headers, 3in exhaust) im sorry if im being kind of general. if youd like to ask me more. iv done alot of research within the last month or so. im just passing on judgment that iv observed from other peoples opinions. iv got a 4.11 posi with a 5-speed. i am hoping to be in the 12's i should because im buying a set of edelbrock performer RPM heads.(most stated above i am doing or done) other people will say AFR's because they probably are the best but have there problems. iv noticed every set has had flaws. i havnt heard anything about edelbrock, but they do have small CC intake runners. but you could always do a little cleaning up if youd like to them. but as far as im concered, if it gets me to my goal ill deffinately be happy. my car is carbed 305 right now but im going with a TPI swap with my 400 and keeping the 5-speed. 13's will be no problem what so ever. you can e-mail me or just keep posting if you want me to try helping you.....

You can make that a 12sec. bottom end with out much problem. If i was permitted thats generally what i would go with. But its whats on top that matters just as much. You can take that bottom end and make it a 4x4 engine if you want. My questions are to you is:
Whats heads are you going (wanting) to use?
How far are you gonna go with the Super Ram?
Injectors, ecm work, afpr, TB, NOS, Charged, etc.?
What kinda trans and gear r u going (wanting) to use?
Auto, manual, convertor, clutch, 3:42, 3:73, 4:??
What cam? Full roller?
Give alittle more info and get alittle more info. Not flamin' just want to know more.
IMO jegs isnt as good on their prices as most others.

would like a recomendation on heads. i hear the AFR units are good.
not sure with the super ram. mildly ported and polished prolly.
would like the motor to be NA
need recomendations on things such as TB injectors, ecm,
want to keep the 700R4 for the OD(will get beefed up so it can take the power)
want Posi 3.42
depends on what i get if i want to go with roller or flat. ither way it will be hydrolic as i want to keep it streetable.
does that help?

I would lose the gear drive. There isn't any power there and a chain will work fine for you. You could go ahead and get the wiseco forged piston/ring combo for what you save on the gear drive.

Brodix=HUGE RUNNERS?!?!? if im thinking right the brodix will be too big for a TPI setup but not posative, thats why AFR's 195's would be perfect or maybe a set of cheap Trickflow 195's would be great as well...... its all up to how much he wants to spend i guess, id say any decent aftermarket heads will get you into the 12s weather it be cast iron or aluminum. if you have the right setup as in everything is made to be close to the same power range. such as large volume runners on the heads need a high lift cam and higher compression or itll run like crap. and say if you have a slightly ported TPI setup and some Trickflows or Edelbrocks with a 480-510 lift cam. itll make tons of power for what its setup for. low end torque and decent hp. id say that would get you into the 12's......
