Re: Repinning TBI to Speed Density TPI

I’ve just completed the repining of the TBI harness on my ‘92 RS and almost everything seems to be good. The one issue I have, is that the SES light is on and jumpering the a/b pins on the ALDL does nothing. No code 12 and no other codes, just a steady glow of the SES light.

any ideas?

Remove the ESC module. Cut the connector off, and splice wires C and E together. Tape up, and hide someplace neat.

Connect MAT, TPS, CTS, and IAC. Extend wires if needed.

Step 5: Repin

Now, repin ECM connector using following table:

Step 6: Calibration changes

At minimum, you will need to change the VSS constant from "magnetic" to "optical" because the 4-out buffer box outputs 2k pulses per mile, vs the 4k pulses per mile that the $8D calibration expects.

You may need to disable VATS, EGR, etc depending on how you did your swap.

Fixed. Don't know what that was about. Maybe broke in a TGO software update.

Re: Repinning TBI to Speed Density TPI

I would like to know if this pinning order, is the same for going from a 8062 ecu wiring, to a 7730 ecu.

I am installing TPI 350, speed density into my '91 TBI S-10. I had the chip burned for the 7730. Now I just need to find out what the re-pinning order is for it. Mine has 3 plug-ins on it. The 2 black side plugs, plug right in, but the 3rd is totally different.

Thanks, Pat

Crazy.. I started this thread 20 years ago. People are still repining these and using factory ECMs.

I have no problem seeing any of the attached items in your thread that you started over there. You need to be logged in to that site to see or download any of the attachments there. ...or maybe you're clicking on the actual picture of theattached xls/pdf, try clicking on the number/words of the posted file.
