Knock sensor differences

Can someone please confirm that the resistance of a knock sensor for the 90-92 thirdgen V8 TPI speed density setup should be 3.9kohms and not 100kohms.?
Thanks

I found this post on the boards. I just wanted to confirm it before I wrote an angry letter to pep boys for giving me the wrong part and doing nothing to help correct it, plus, it could be the fix for the problem i've had for nearly 2 years, under the assumption that it wasn't the knock sensor, when i have been running the wrong one the entire time. Good thing I didn't get a new memcal or computer yet.
Thanks

I gave up years ago buying critical items from Parts Houses, and for some items only go A/C. O2 sensors, ignition parts, and EFI sensors are nothing to guess at, or close will do, IMO. Lots of the smaller parts houses will gladly order A/C parts, and they're not always that much more then chain store prices.

I will definitely take my business to places like that in the future. By smaller parts houses, would you recommend a place like napa, or autozone, those are the only ones in the area, other than the dealership.

I had the same problem when I switched to SD from MAF. I bought my wiring harness from Painless and bought the knock sensor they had listed. It was the same as the MAF system. I found out here on these boards by accident that I was using the wrong one. The 90-92 uses 3.9 ohms instead of 100. Live and learn. Glad you found the problem.

Yup, all SD cars use 3.9k sensors. All MAF cars use the 100. Beware though, some parts stores, like Pep Boys, dont know the difference in their computer systems, and will give you the older 100 model.
