These are all 350's ... no bigger cube motors in the following results.

I've seen Mike Davis go 11.9's with an upgraded TPI setup (AS&M runners, ported and siamesed Edelbrock base, AFRs, LT4 HOT Cam, etc.).

I've seen him go 11.8's with the Holley Stealth Ram.

I've gone 11.6's with the MiniRam.

The above results are definitely not a direct comparison though. Our setups are different. I have no doubt that Mike could run faster than 11.6's if he had my heads, cam, and a MiniRam. He just puts down awesome times!

Tim

No problem ... and yes, they have some work to them - nothing huge, but enough to give me about 15cfm more than box stock.

What about guys that aren't running mini ram/super ram/stealth rams?

Just out of curiosity.

those are the same as vette heads? that's still not bad for a 66.666% stock motor (cam is a third of the big three modifiers, intake, heads, cam). where you running an aftermarket stall and rear or where you a manual?

ZZ4 heads use the same casting as Vette L98 heads, just with better valvetrain hardware (hollow-stem LT4 valves).

It wasn't totally stock shortblock, I had the crank ground -0.010" and block bored +0.030". Nothing fancy, just a set of hypereutectic flat-top pistons.

Trans at the time was a TH700R-4 with Vigilante 2600-2800 stall converter, 3.42 gears, Edelbrock headers, Random cat.

It passed NJ treadmill emission inspection on the same PROM, which was nice.

At this site: http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c4/beach_bum/

go to the proven set-ups section.

Some fast superram, miniram and long tube runner motors with a couple of LT-1's mixed in I think. I think they're all streetable. They are Corvettes though, but still the same motors.

there outa be a vote on the best one at that page.

How about stock TPI stuff, no aftermarket base or runners, just stock with any amount of porting?

My son's car (Kevin91Z) with Corvette heads, ZZ4 cam, and stock port-matched TPI went 13.23 @ 107.19 with a 1.98 60' time. I know there are better ones out there.

107 MPH is practically a 12 second trap speed. what kind of tires was he running?

Nice MPH! wow I think he could have ran 12s easy with some tire under it. Ive seen cars run 12s with 103mph trap speed. I'm hoping to eek out a 12.9*** with mine. We'll see soon. The strip opens in February

BTW, I love his car (Kevin91z). I would not have modded mine if I wasn't inspired by his.

Take care,
Charlie

I am running 12's now, but I added an LT4 HOT cam, and SLP 1 3/4" headers instead of 1 5/8".

I was also using BFG Drag Radials but am now using M/T ET Streets.

What do you mean when you say "it is a pain". You mean the tuning or the installation? I haven't installed my SuperRam yet and wanna be mind prepared.

i'm trying to see how fast i can go with the stock cam/heads(boltons listed in sig). MY best to date is a 13.21@104.6. The only other external engine bolton I plan on is an Alumium DS. After that I'm going to build a new engine with the 219/219 cam and AFR 195 heads. I will be hoping to run low 12's high 11's after I build that setup...

84 Z28, T5 and 3.42s. Two weeks ago went 13.21 @ 104.45 on a 1.905 60-foot. Combo:

350, stock 89 GM shortblock
Vette aluminum heads, machined for springs but otherwise stock
STOCK runners, STOCK base, STOCK 48mm throttle body
STOCK MAF with screens in place, STOCK 22 lb Rochestor injectors
plenum ported to remove EGR bump
air boxes cut, no filters (track only of course)
Edelbrock TES, test pipe, 3" I-pipe and Ultraflow muffler
cam: custom roller 207/213 @ .050, .476 lift
stock 1.5 stamped rockers
el cheapo underdrive crank pulley, no smog pump
race weight with driver 3520 lbs
Holley AFPR, but its set for 41 psi/no vacuum and it still runs 11.8-12.0 A/F at WOT.

In September it went 13.37 @ 103.45 with 60-foots in the low 1.80s. Track prep wasn't as good this last time out and I struggled to get 1.90s. With the traction I had in September, the car would have gone 13 teens. FWIW, the only changes between the 13.37 and 13.21 runs were the underdrive crank pulley and a poly torque arm mount to replace my wasted stock one. With a fresh set of DRs and some weight reduction over the winter I'm shooting for 12.99 in the spring on the existing combo.

Not to knock anyone elses efforts, but I see quite a few people here who have spent a lot of money and thrown a lot of parts at their motors to go slower. My first time out in the car this year I was running 13.90s at 99. Since then I put over 50 passes on it (and no, I haven't broken the stock T5 yet) and kept detailed logs of my tuning. Other than a new cat-back and the underdrive pulley, I really haven't touched the motor this year at all.

My combo may not make for an exciting message board sig, but it seems to work!

I'm not sure if this comparing apples to oranges, but I know of several L98 Vettes that are running deep into the 12s on stock heads/cam NA. My 91 has gone 12.73 at 106. I have an accel base, ASM runners, ported plenum, 1.6 RRs, 2500 stall converter, Hooker long tubes and 2.5" exhaust. I have some other minor bolt-ons (low temp fan switch, 160 stat, etc), but the car is NA and has stock heads/cam.

I just went 13.39 @ 101.8 this past weekend w/ completely stock TPI setup, stock exhaust manifolds on a 355 w/ TFS heads and 227/233 cam. The car is overcammed big time for this intake though. W/ headers and a converter, I think the car can see 12.7 12.8s though...
