Can I use a TPI intake with a 3.1 ECM
I don't know if this will work but i want to keep some of my factory things that i have with it being a 92 RS but i bought a MAF TPI intake wiring and ECM. Can i use the 3.1's ECM if i get a new PROM and Wiring? I really don't want to use MAF cause i don't have the MAF sensor and i know they can be expensive. Can I do this and convert to Speed Density it will make it look more stock. LOL The big shiney Edelbrock Sig Series valve covers won't help the loock but hey I like em. Right now i have a Carb'ed 70's 350 with a 700R4. The car came with a 3.1 5-speed. The TPI stuff i have i think is from an 86. It has the 86 - 88? ECM but has the intake bolt pattern like the original small blocks. Can i make this swap to speed density with a 3.1 ECM or am i way over my head and should i just do the swap and install the old MAF ecm and harness. If you like to know anything else about what i have just let me know. I'll try to help.
Thanks

I'm fairly certain you have the same ECM as the 90-92 SD setups in your 3.1. You might want to check out the PROM burning board and do a search. I have a feeling this has been covered before.
Also, welcome to the boards! Not your first post...but definitely a new member.

How do you get the ecm to drive 2 more injectors? Wouldnt that change the ohm load or impedance of the injectors or the banks?
Just curious.

Only difference is the Prom that is used for each car.
Yes, you can have the harness modified for SD, just get the appropriate prom and knock sensor for the car.

I understand that now but would you just wire one injector on one bank and put a harness on it and wire the other injector on the other bank and wire a harness to it to? Im talking about Physically wiring the extra 2 injectors up.

I am assuming the ECM can handle a range of ohm loads since the same ecm will drive 2 inj per bank as well as 4inj per bank.
