Engine: Blown 415"
Transmission: 4L80E
Axle/Gears: Strange 12-bolt
Wont start, backfires and so on...
A friend of mine has this problem on his 350TPI -90.
Background: Driving around and car starts to missfire, stops open the hood and sees sparks between distributor and ign.coil. Tries to drive home but it only gets worse.....then it dies..
Now the car wont start, it has spark but only backfires when trying to start......
Checked and changed:
Camchain (new)
Distibutor (new)
ign.module (new)
ign.wires (new)
plugs (new)
How exactly is the timing controlled when you crank the engine?
I know it changes over 400rpm

It sounds like either your coil isn't grounded or it is bad. It is cheap replace it.

Engine: 350 worked vortec head .515 .515 cam and 1.6 rockers and shorties for now til i can afford the supercomps
Transmission: super t-10 or t-5
Axle/Gears: auburn with 3.42 stock axles
do you have hei or external coil because with external you dont even have to have the coil bolted down for it to work it just sound like you have a cracked cap or it's just the wires arcing
