tpi swap checklist
ok, in a week or so i am swapping to a TPI set up on my carbed 305
i would like this checklist verified to make sure i am not forgetting anything before i begin, its my daily driver so i would like to have it done over a weekend
let me begin by saying that the car is already geared with a 350 TPI fuel pump (running a 3 port regulator right now with the carb) and i have modified a 3.1 V6 MPFI harness (that is currently in the car also) to work with the TPI
so far i have:
harness
fuel pump
lower intake
plenum
runners
bolts for the runners and manifold
throttle body
complete gasket set
fuel rails with 19 lb injectors
CC small cap distributor
matching coil
IAC
MAP sensor
IAT sensor
O2 sensor
Coolant Temp sensor
thermostat housing
305 TPI SD PROM
730 ECM
EGR valve
rubber intake tube
plastic "V" air filter housing that fits over the radiator
air filters
parts i still need:
thermostat
coil to distributor harness for reference pulse(any body know if i can get one of these in a parts store?)
TPS...i think i have 2 laying in my garage somewheres though
also i am currently running braided fuel lines and will continue to
i bought the accel -6AN to TPI fuel rail fittings to accomodate these
am i forgetting anything?
(and i also have a MAC/actron OBD1/OBD2 scan tool)

With the speed density unit you will also need a "knock snesor" and an inline speed pickup module to send the speed pulses to the ECM. This module mounts onto the speedo gear at the transmission. I see you have an "IAT" listed. Do you mean "MAT" for manifold air temp (mounts onto bottom of plenum).

woops, yes i have both a knock sensor and VSS
just forget to mention them
well, i am going to extend the wires and use it as a IAT instead of a MAT, supposedly the temps will read a little cooler

its really not hard to figure out since the 3.1 and 305/350 TPI use the same ECM and pretty much the same pinout...............
the injectors:
there is only one injector driver in the 730 ECM since it is batch fire
there is one power and one ground wire for each side of the motor..............it then splits into 3 grounds and powers for each side, so all i had to do was splice on one more injector connector on each side and extend the wires
also had to splice on a different connector for the IAC since the 3.1 uses a different one than the TPI
EGR i am not using, and i am also not using AIR
i know the EGR is totally different, so if you want to keep it, i am pretty sure it can be done, but i'm not going down that road so you will have to check for yourself
other than that its just extending some wires and checking the splices and connectors with a DVOM
