I have searched for an answer to my problem, but I haven't found anything that really matches my problem.

I have a 92 Z with 305 TPI 5 speed.

When I come to a stop my car will die. It will start right back up. Also when I am sitting still facing downhill the car will just die. Then I need to give it some gas to get it started.

Anyone have any ideas of things to check? This just started the other day out of the blue.

Both conditions trigger when fuel sloshes to the front of the tank.

I'd hook up a fuel pressure gauge where I could see it while driving, and see if the pressure drops off before the engine dies during braking or while idling facing downhill.

Can you tell me which gauge I should get?

TPIS sells a nice one for $30-$40 which has a long enough hose. When troubleshooting, I generally duct-tape the gauge head to my windshield where I can watch it while driving.

OK, I hooked up a gauge and it reads between 35-40 psi.

I ran it down the street and there were not any changes in pressure it was still between 35-40.

However when I come to a stop and put the car in neutral the rpm's drop to 500 and below. Which is when it will stall.

What else should I check?

The only modifiactions to the car are, lower temp thermostat, lower temp fan turn on switch, jet chip (stage 1). New o2 sensor, fuel filter and spark plugs 6 months ago. The wires look new, (I bought the car 1 year ago). I have checked the timing and it is at 6.

Hey dude, the EXACT same thing was happening to me a few months back (except I would get a check engine light as well). I checked everything except the ECM (everyone said it would be the last thing to go). So I yanked it out, replaced it, and it immediately ran perfect.

I am surprised that you are not getting any codes. I have had this problem with my car twice. The first time turned out to be a bad MAF sensor. The second time turned out to be the timing was way off.

Well it is not stalling anymore. I removed the air foil and it still drops to around 500-600 rpm when I stop but does not die.

So what should I do so I can re-install the air foil?
