TPIMarow6.6, here's what a friend of mine is running:

Engine:
406.77 cubic inches
Internal Balance Cat Forged Crank
Eagle 6.0 inch SIR Rods
SRP Pistons
JE File Fit Rings
Studded 2 bolt main
ATI Damper
LT1 Intake Manifold Converted by Me. Thanks John Millican for the idea.
AFR 190 Heads Street Port
Harland Sharp 1.5 Roller Rockers
Crane Hydraulic Retrofit Roller Lifters. Thanks Jenny
Comp Cams Custom Hydraulic Roller Cam (small base circle, 240 @ .050 single, .560 lift)

I've ridden in it a few times, seems pretty good on the street. I know that big of a cam would scare a lot of people, but it works well in the 406 and is still very streetable. He's run a best of 11.8 @ 118 so far. That's w/ Edelcrap shorty headers and some more bugs to work out. Here's his webpage if you want more info: http://www.geocities.com/maydays19/home

TPI383, your car is going to ROCK when it's done, TT 418 :hail: :hail: :hail:

He's on the forum here somtimes. His car is quick, should trap over 120 mph when he gets some LT's, ports the intake and gets the tuning dialed in.

TPI383-i read a long post about one of your friends with the twin turbo setup. that was sweet A$$! i wish i could afford something like that(even tho you count up the money i spent already and its more) lol but i dont have AFR heads i have the edelbrock RPM heads and my cam is low duration and 488/512 lift. 30 over i am going to get a set of Edelbrock TES headers i think, ill be running about 9.6-9.7:1 CR with the LT1 intake setup everything i already have exept for the headers and i need to go get a set of injectors for my intake as well. but im going to brake the motor in with my Q-jet. im just going to run a performer intake for now(i know its cheezy **** but as long as it works ill be happy) and then ill figure out my TPI wiring swap and put the LT1 on top. im also looking for a 9 bolt posi unit for the car. cause im running a 5-speed its gonna put alot of stress on the 10 bolt. i just want to make it in the 12's and ill be extremely happy.:lala:

Also i have a prom burned by John Millican, he also helped me with a few wire problems i was trying to figure out, someone sent me a link about your car buckeyeROC, because i was looking for a 9 bolt and they said your running 12.17's with a 10 bolt, welded axel tubes, bla bla bla. and i told the guy you must be running automatic. cause automatics are not as hard on the rears

this is my street car. gas prices are already 1.83 right now and buying super(1.99) and them getting rid of 94 around here( i dont know if they did anywhere else)....not good so thats why im running that CR. and i already have my edelbrock exhaust so true duals are out of the question. so what headers would you suggest?

To keep things within budget I would go Hedman longtube with custom y-pipe.

Shorty y-pipes are the real power killer, not the shorty headers themselves. It would be in your best interest to avoid running a "snake like" stock y-pipe design at all cost.

If I was to do it over again, I'd get some ceramic coated Hooker Super Comps and a custom y-pipe w/ dual elec cutouts. Use any reg catback from there you want, b/c it won't matter when you open the cutouts. I recommend a Hooker catback, sounds NICE on my LS1 and I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. Do not get the Flowmaster, trust me

well the problem is i paid 250 (its on the car now)for my edelbrock catback and you misunderstood, i didnt purchase any edelbrock headers, i was going to within a week. also about custom fabing a y-pipe from long tube headers isnt exactly my idea of a fun time. no shops around here mandrel bend any exhaust so id be screwed. plus it would have to go back to my existing exhaust. but i dont know, i havent done much research on running long tube headers. but it is a thought id keep in mind. but id like to run true duals maybe have them exit at an angle in front of the back rear tires. since the car isnt going to be lowered and i have 65 series tires on it right now(26-27in i think) i dont think itll be too much of a problem but if i had an undercar shot of what id have to hook up to run it id think about it. but definately a shorty header/y-pipe combo would be the easiest, but not cheapest as you mentioned.

I have never seen a "Y" pipe from Edlecrock, but I've seen a lot of "T" pipes. Any muffler shop should be able to cut off the "T" and weld in a "Y" to make it work.

Here's a pic of edelbrock HO/TPI headers with a "Y" pipe and its an actual Y pipe $345 through summit. im thinking about a brand new set of headers and y pipe for my car from headman 1 5/8ths 220 brand new through summit/jegs no AIR tho.

Again, I have the Hooker super comp shorties w/y pipe and I dont regret it one bit. They are not a "power" killer. I'm glad I bought them. I wouldn't buy anything else but Hooker. But thats my preference. Got mine from Summit.
