Could my MAP be bad?
ok had a thread here last week about my car having a bad sumble above 3500rpms. it would only do it in 3rd gear at over half throttle. it would also throw a code 32 after cruising for a bit. the car is also pretty rich. the only mod ive done lately is an AFPR by Holley thats set at 47psi. it was set there for over a week and ran GREAT. then i put on a new throttle body plate(replaced the one that says Tuned Port Injection). ran the car for a few days and then it started running bad. was told to replace the EGR valve cuz it was stuck open, so i did and it still has the same problem. replaced the cap and rotor and noticed the Accell rotor was rubbing on the Accell cap. that imporved performance a little but didnt effect the problems any.
so like i said, i replaced the egr valve today and went to the track, on the way there it still stumbles at anything over 3500 rpms and still runs VERY rich. it smells like its carbed at idle and when revved its so bad...
my question is this, could a bad MAP sensor be causing these problems as well as the code 32? im running out of ideas here and REALLY need help.

32. Fault in barometric pressure sensor circuit OR
Fault in exhaust gas recirculation valve diagnostic switch OR
Fault in electronic vacuum regulator valve
This would make it run rich. Did you change the sensor? If not, I haven't heard of them going bad very quickly, but it is possible.
I am not sure if there are any relays like the maf cars had, but if it does, I would start checking the wiring with a volt-meter and go through it all.
Have you done a scan on the car? This will tell you what the pressure is, and will also tell you if there are any other problems.

Check the tech articles from the main page for the Code 32 problems and go through the check list to see if you can fix it. If not, start looking in the DIY-PROM board to price out how much a setup is to program your own chips.
I started doing my own chips and I have only had one or two codes since. I disabled EGR, AIR, and CCP with TRAXION's Super AUJP bin. It may cost a bit up front, but you gain it all back learning why the car is screwing up.

DOH! Wish I'd a jumped in sooner on this, I coulda' saved ya' from buying that EGR. I recognized my old T/A as soon as I saw the rims - I still miss the ol' grey beast. (Yup, I'm the dude that sold it to ya' back in '01. Small world, eh?)
Back when I had it, I was having a weird stumble/surging thing going on at stoplights and at steady throttle cruise. I fiddled around with everything, but the only part that cured it (at the time, anyway) was changing out the EGR. Never threw any codes when it did it, though. So the EGR was new ... well, three years ago, anyway.
This may be a way-off guess, but have you checked the EGR solenoid, itself? (Been ages since I was under the hood of an L98, so my memory's fuzzy. Dunno if it even has one, or if it's all vacuum.) Might try swapping back to the old FPR and see if maybe that's what might be going on, or maybe dial down your PSI a bit and see if that affects it.
Wish I could help more. I'm having some MAP/Baro issues with my '87 right now, too (which is how I stumbled across this thread).
