NEED HELP, QUICK!!! Too Short Injectors?!?

Ok, purchased the accel injectors from Summit. Bought the
#ACC-150826 26lbs. injectors to put into my 87 5.7 TPI 350. The guy putting them in for me tells me they are too short? Called Accel, talked to a guy who "seems" to know his stuff, more than I do anyways. He says they are adjustable by moving the clip that holds them in up one position. Does this sound right? Not too familiar in this area, want to make sure they are the right part.

I'm not sure about the adjustable part, but my Accel 24# were shorter than my stock injectors.

I've been using them for about 3 years now with no problems.

Hope this helps.

I think that the Accel tech guy would be referring to two grooves in the top of the injectors,, the end that sticks into the fuel rail. We have a retaining clip to secure the injector into the fuel rail. Check the injectors on the top end to see if this is true. Use the upper groove if possible.

I have not heard of anyone doing this, but it might be possible to remove same metal from the top of the four pedestals that the fuel rail sits on. Like say for a guess 0.050".. This would allow the rail to sit a bit lower and compensate for the shorter injectors.

Yes they ar a shorter injector but they will work fine. I have been running mine like this for over a year and life is grand. If you are still worried you can grind down the 4 bases on your intake manifold that your fuel rail bolts to. This will lower the rail height and ensure the injector is seated as low as it can go into the port but will have enough room ontop to seal at the rail.

Thanks for the help, after I talked to the guy putting them in, he had no problems. But now I have oil in my distributor, must of broke a seal or gasket. Guess it is time for an upgrade!
