Does anyone have the LT1 plenum on their L98 SR??
Just wondering if anyone is using the shorter Plenum?? LPE sent me the short LT1 style, but I am worried the plenum volume will change drasticly because of this!! Should I send it back, or keep it??

Ya I think I am going to. It is just 2"deep instead of 3", everything else is the same. The guy said he sent it to me for extra clearance.

Send it back.
I was just reading John's Small Block Chevy Performance book last night, and he said in the book that the shorter plenum is less than optimal, and because of the shorter height, the turn of the air into the runners is not as smooth as with the full height plenum.
He further said it was a design compromise to make the SR fit under the 4th gen hood.
(Edit: The book said the height difference was 5/8 inch.)

What a joke, why the heck would they send you a plenum and say they are hoping you would get better clearance. There are countless 3rd gens that run the standard plenum with no problems at all.
Sounds to me like they were trying to dump some inventory on you.
I would demand they send you the right one with prepaid return shiiping so you can send back the wrong one, at their cost.
About the size, the last thing you want to do is shrink the plenum volume on a long runner intake. The plenum in effect stalls the airstream and allows it to build up and become more dense in the plenum. This is important as the sonic wave tuning of the runners then has a denser charge to push down the runners into the motor.
There are 2 reasons why the SR blows the TPI setup away:
1. Bigger plenum.
2. 3" reduction in runner length.

do a 5 second search on TGO for some superram pics. print out 6 or 10 of them.... prefably several on a single sheet.
Add mine to your list, OMG is that an STB over the plenum???
Clearance my ****, lol!!!
I did have to remove some hood supports though to clear the STB, but not the plenum alone.
End of story.........

That is one of the best pics, I'm gonna use it if you don't mind.
Your car must haul ***, do ya have any times yet?? I think I saw your post with a dyno run.
I was very close to buying E-Tecs, then backed out for the AFR's.

Times will be had tomorrow, forecast is good right now.
I have been fighting the weather to get on the track for the past few weeks.
I dynoed a few weeks back.
325RWHP/440RWTQ (SAE)
Those numbers were had with the stock 48mm TB, LOL, a current choke point for my 385 stroker motor right now. She peaked HP at 5800rpm, so the ported intake and ported heads are flowing enough for the big 385 but the TB is just not flowing enough through the intake. However the track will be the true test to see how everything is dialed in and working together.

That car must pull hard, I am thinking that I should have went with the comp cam everyone is using with the super ram, it has a bit more in it than the 219/219. What cam are you running?? Be sure to post those times, provided you get traction, you should drop some awsome #'s!! Good Luck.

Wow! Lot's of replies!
Glad to help, 91wtROH17's.
Sucks to know the people on the phone at LPE do not even know details about their own merchandise. Good thing for boards like this.

224/230 .535/.540 on 1.6 @.050
However if I knew then what i know now when I built the motor my choice would have been different. If I had to do it over again I would have gone with a custom Crane solid roller.
228/228 .575/.575 on 1.7 @.050
There is a good chance I will dump that cam in favor of the solid roller. However depending what the track times deliver I may just forget about it all together. However at this point my budget for parts is broke. My next purchase really needs to be a larger TB as I need to dump the stock 48mm unit in a bad way. After that I really need slicks in a bad way.

What the guy is refering to is the shorter plenium will clear the wiper motor without as much trouble. With the 3" plenium the plenium may hit the wiper motor. My superram with the 3" plenium hits the wiper motor and I had to modify the wiper motor to fit the Superram in place.
