new TPI on old style block
I know its been covered, but for the life of me, using search and the faq ect I cant find a direct answer. Can I bolt my 88 intake to my 1986 383? I know the only 4 bolts that will be trouble are the middle intake bolts as they are different angles. Is there any cheap alternative to fix this? I'd really like to finish my engine swap quickly. Within a year It'll have a stealthram, but for now I gotta get it running with the '88 stock TPI unit.
Can anyone give me some input on this? maybe some angled washers or something? some grinding of the ports?

You could always buy a new intake manifold off ebay for the '86. I have seen them on there for around $100. Is it that the angles are different or is it just the location of the holes? I thought it was the location in which case you could elongate the holes until you get the stealthram. I believe I have read of people doing that.
Screw buying a new intake.
I just busted out the Dremel and ground the intake down until I could bolt it up.
USE RTV ON THOSE THREADS!
I've heard of people developing oil leaks there.
I never had problems with mine - I GOOPED that stuff on there.
Ran my car like that for 2 years before I bought my SR.

I used my late style TPI intake when I switched to ZZ4 heads (which are old style). All you have to do is elongate the 4 center holes right next to the EGR ports. I used a Die grinder (can use a dremel to) and it took about 5 minutes, no use buying a new intake.

Excellent! thank you guys! I thought that was the case, but I didnt want to dig in until I knew for sure.
I am going to buy a stealthram or a miniram, but right now I just need a vehicle in good working order that isnt covered in rust. And what I've got is a white 1988 IROC-Z in great condition with a 350 TPI that has a rolled bearing and some tranny quirks. And a 1986 Z28 with a built 383 and racing 700-R4.
My plan is to swap the engine from the 86 into the 88, sell the 700-R4, and buy a T56 (I am just tierd of the autos.. but this one the best I've seen.) At first I will use the stock TPI on top of the 383 (I realize I will lose a huge amount of hp compared to the 4bbl on it now) I plan on going to stealthram, miniram or LT-1 later after I convert to roller cam and upgrade the cam, injectors ect ect. But it looks like I'll be able to pull off the conversion to the other engine no problems.
Thanks again!
