cold start up

Greetings,

My 1989 iroc has a cold start up problem. My car has a problem when I start it in the morning or when it's been sitting for several hours , I have to press down on the gas pedal for it to fire it up. What could be the problem?

I've had a tune up done to her twice , but it still comes back, after few weeks or so.

Thanks,
Gerry

With the electric fuel pump priming the injectors, there is no need to step on the gas before starting. So you have a problem, fuel filter, injectors or pump.

cold start up

Greetings,

Thanks DJP87z28 for the reply. I had my fuel pump replaced last year and I'm going to get another tune up this month. So while it's in the shop I'll have them check out the injectors.

Thanks,
Gerry

The injectors probably need cleaning.

On a related note, does anybody know where you can get one of the pre-'88 cold start injectors? The one on my Camaro died (killed half the engine electrical system in the process) and for now it's just disconnected completely. Doesn't seem like any of the factory parts warehouses around here carry them, and I'm rather wary of aftermarket.
