Ported Stock Runners or Aftermarket???

should i save some money and just port my stock 305 runners out or would i greatly benefit on some aftermarket high flo runners???? keep in mind this is going to be swapped on a 350 with some other decent mods attached.

There is not much difference in aftermarket runners. Any brand you can pick up for a good price on these boards or ebay is the way to go. There all basically within a MM or two of each other and that difference goes away as soon as you port and gasket match them. Although you will see a much better return on your money if you get the base as well, opening up one without the other offers little to no gain.

Its about $450 but you don't have vortec heads, do you? All bases are in the price range of $400-500 after shipping. The main ones to look at are Edelbrock (Summit $380), TPIS Big Mouth (made by Edelbrock $450), Acell ($425) AS&M ($?). Again as with the runners once you open the ports a hair ther all basically the same thing. I have the Edelbrock base and runners that I am porting with my plenum. I just did tons of research on which ones to buy and why. I could not find any definitive proof that one is any better or worse than another once you start taking a grinder to them so I would just get whatever you can find at the best price. You can even mix and match. You will also want the large tube runner gaskets with 1.75" opening compared to the stock 1.44"
