can't get tps adjusted high enough???

i have a new tps, which i used to replace the old one that i thought was defective. now i see its something else and its got me stumped. no matter how far i turn the damn thing, i can't get the low throttle number above .39 volts. wtf? am i missing something? i used two different voltmeters just to make sure i wasn't doing something wrong, and still i got the same reading.

yes i followed the directions in the tech section, and don't understand why mine can't *$^*&# work like everyone elses does. thanks for the help in advance

Does your TPS look like the one in this picture? You will see the two wires that you must backprobe, they are pin "A" & "B". "A" is negative and "B" is positive. Make sure you put the lever arm on the TPS under the arm on the throttle body. Your voltage should be a low of .46 volts to a high of .62 volts. Readings should be taken with key in "ON" position and engine off

that is what mine looks like, everything is setup and was tested exactly as you described. except in the normal position (90deg to throttle body) it reads 0.00 i have to rotate it all the way up to get it to read .39v. this is not right, as u obviously know. what is my next course of action?

thanks for the help trickster... u rule.

What do you get when you rotate it down?

i didn't rotate it down. it measured 0.00volts at 90deg, and it measured 0.00v for a few degrees untill it started registering a voltage.

What is your reference voltage reading? If it isn't five volts, you either have a problem with the wiring or the output on the ECM.

Also might want to check the ground the TPS uses to make sure you don't have an issue with that.

If you have an issue with either of those, the signal voltage will not read as high as it should.
