Where To Get Fuel Injectors Hmmm....?

I pulled a 305 TPI out of my 87 Z and replaced it with a stock 350 TPI. Did all the necessary stuff except the fuel injectors. Running a bit lean, no doubt. Got 19 lb/hr and need 24lb/hr. I need to know what are the best to buy, i. e. Lucas, Bosch... etc. and where I can buy a set and not break the bank doing so.

Compatible with TPI?

Thanks Scott57350

I Looked at the product at SLP the price is for 8 injectors? I would call but they are closed. If So that is a good price. another thing the ad didn't say if they are compatible for TPI. It did say for LT1 LT4 LS1 and SVO. will 25 lb be too high of output for a stock 87 350?

Yes that is for all 8. It would be to high for a stock 350 but just get a new chip burnt for them and they would work, also there have been many people on here and used them without changing nothing and say they work great I guess you'll just have to see, but there an excellent deal

Just buy them for the price and get a new chip. Most places want that for one.

In that case, I'll have to get the injectors!! Can't beat the price!! Is there any physical modification needed to the intake, fuelrails, or injectors to be applicable in my TPI?

Thanks

MDFormula350

I read the Thread. before I got to the end I figured I would be dumping too much fuel with the 25lb/hr injectors. So the next thing is...
How about the PROM, Should I Get my 305 PROM reprogrammed, buy a 350 PROM and have it reprogrammed or buy an aftermarket PROM and tell them the specs i need for it. In other words, which is the best process.

Or maybe someone has an alternative direction i didn't approach.

injectors

This is just a thought but you could buy an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and turn up the pressure a bit. In the book from TPIS insider hints they say that they have run 19 pound injectors in 400 ci plus smallblocks with the pressure turned up with no problems and they know their stuff. It would be a good investment for more mods down the road too. Just my 2 cents.

So am I getting this right that you can run these SLP 25 lb injectors with a stock L98 with no problems? Granted that properly tuning your car will yield the biggest improvement.

I just called SLP and the tech said those injectors would not be a direct fit on L98 unless you do some modifications. He said thy're LS1 injectors and wouldn't recommend them for the L98.

some people have had to grind the fuel rail supports a little to make them fit. others have said that they went directly in with no modifications at all. i just ordered a set and will be putting them in soon, so i'll let you know how it goes.

The SLP Injectors

I purchased the injectors for my TPI and had to take just a little under 1/2 inch off the pillars of th intake. It takes some patience and time to get it right, but it can be done. Make sure you have no fuel leaks. That's the key. The LS1 injectors are slightly smaler in length and width than the original ones, but they fit in the ports just the same. Once you replace the injectors you need to either get your chip reprogrammed or get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Since they are lager injectors, would you have to raise or lower your fuel pressure?

Adjusting Fuel Pressure

Since ther SLP injectors are dumping more fuel in the engine i believe you would have to turn down the pressure. This would make the ECM 'think' that the 26lb injectors are working like the stock 22lb. injectors (350 ci) or 19lb. injectors (305 ci). The amount I don't know, because I haven't changed my factory fuel pressure regulator.

Adjusting Fuel Pressure

I repeal my last statement. I did some research and come to believe that you need to INCRESE your fuel pressure, not decrease it. The higher pressure will give a better air/fuel spray and more atomization and thus a better burn. But still I don't know how high to set it. Check out TPiS Insider or go to www.tpis.com for more info.

Make sure your injectors don't go static as certian older Multecs can lock barely above 50ish psi. Also remember that higher pressure puts more strain on your fuel pump. If your fuel pump hasn't been upgraded yet it gives you something to think about. The newer LS1 injectors can take a lot more psi than our stock injectors but I played with mine and ended up setting them at 45psi.
