It can be done, but it is not a swap over. You need to fab an intake where you have a much wider "Y" and the respective air filters would wind up on opposite sides of the engine compartment. One all the way front and left, and one all the way front and right.
Not worth it! Just take your time and make a free flowing single inlet CAI - it will work just as well as a dual snorkel.

Make your own. Visit Home Depot or some other box hardware store, and buy some ABS plastic pipe, elbows and couplings.

OH: Not worth the headaches of lose hose clamps all of the time on a daily driver. I even lost a $40 filter because of warping PVC pipe loosening a connection. Go metal... all the way. Use silicone connectors from http://www.bakerprecision.com and 3" mandrel bent pipe for a 305, or 3.5" pipe for larger engines. The throttle body will take a 4.25" to a 3" adapter (or 3.5" depending on the size pipe you use) if I remember right. It's more expensive, but well worth the results.

SoCal. I was in Fresno, even hotter there.
Polyethelene doesnt work.
PVC doesnt work.
ABS holds up quite well IMO. I bought the black stuff, I'd have to go look at the grade if someone really wants it but it doesnt matter. Its run of the mill sewer/waste pipe for home/business construction purposes. If it can survive in 100 degree summers with engine temps at 220+, I think its ok. Thats why I said ABS, PVC is flimsy and does not withstand the heat present under a hood. I had a nasty reminder of that just today with a temporary coupling for my blowoff valve tube.

ABS will withstand it... I live in Las Vegas and the summer here is 10 miles north of Hell. I ran ABS plastic for a "smooth bellows" mod and it withstodd the heat fine. I got rid of it, because it was a crappy mod and I didn't like its looks. Heat presented no problem tho.
BNOON - your piping is very nice looking, but you should really wrap it in a thermal sock or header wrap. It will help lessen the heating of air from transfer thru the metal tubing. Big difference in the summer time
