timing

i found a 86z for a decent price but it has a bad timing chan. its a higher milage 350 i belive. how much of a pita is it to do the timingchain and maybe toss a small cam in?

its not too hard at all if you are planning to pull the engine to do it but if you wanna do it in the car its a litte bit of a pain because of the room you have to work with in these cars but its possible to do it so dont get discouraged the only hard part about doing it in the car is really getting the timing cover back on while its in the car ......alot of people cut the edges of the timing cover and grind it alittle and then cram it in i like to loosen the oilpan and then pry it down and put the timing cover back on then put some sealer on the pan gasket and reinstall it too but if its possible you might as well buy a gasket kit and pull the engine and replace all of em so you know your okay and wont have any leaks what so ever ...and it would make changeing the cam alot easier out of the car
