Killing MAF sensors

In the 5 or so months I've had the car . I will have replaced the MAF twice. I'm getting a little tired of this. I've cleaned the plug ins on the firewall to help . but to no avail. Bye the way the TPI unit is for sell now. If interested in it. Email to CHESSPIKEY@YAHOO.com

A bad burn off relay has been known to fry a MAF or two. If I were having this problem, I'd start with that and the power relay.

word to the wise here. any of you with K&N filters that have cleaned and re-oiled your filters. be careful not to over oil the filters and make sure to let the oil soak in good before you run the filter again. my buddy totally coated the inside of his sensor with oil from the filter then the MAF stopped working.

Another word to the not-so-wise. Follow the directions K&N put in with their filters..... When re-oiling the filter, use just enough to turn the filter light pink. any more and you have over oiled it and it does no good.

Check the voltage going to the MAF, should be 5VDC. Also check the burnoff voltage (ot sureof the reading) and the duration of the voltage, should be just a couple of seconds.

There used to be a TSB, about just blowing a lil R-12 across the MAF's sensor board to clean them. But, that's no longer acceptable. Might try using brake cleaner, or something that dries residue free. On the new ones, just a careful scraping with an X-Acto knife often fixes them.

killed MAF sensor

Well first off I have cleaned the relays on the fire wall. Plus I kept throwing a code 34. I went and bought another one from autozone and it worked just fine.
