stealth ram AFPR hose fitting problems

I had recently finished a stealth ram install and was checking for leaks when I noticed a big leak at the AFPR fitting that goes to the 90 degree fitting. It seems that the instructions call for the use of the end with the lock nut to "Lock" in the desired position. However the threads on that side are too small, so consiquently the fitting gets pullud out every time.

I can flip it around and it fits much better, but it still leaks and it points straight back where there is no room to run a hose. So I tried a 14 mm aeroquip fitting, only to strip the threads. So how do I do or how has it been done, what have I done wrong? What fitting do I need?
