torque converter
alright alot of people recommend vigilante converters Im just wondering what the big difference between those or a tci or some other brand is I mean, their all made to perform the same function so why does one cost upwards of 300 dollars more than the other. Sorry if this is a stupid question I just dont feel like throwing my money away.

you also need to know what STR you want. This is what effects how hard you hit the tires off the line and the effieciency up top.

Stall Torque ratio. Kinda complicated to explain. My last converter was around a 1.8 in my L03 and it hit the tires quite a bit harder than stock, but sacrificed some efficiency up top but not too bad.

If all you are running is the stock motor and a few mods, then the tci and b&m convertors are ok. I've seen 1 b&m 2400 break behind a 350 miniram, iroc, et streets, and have heard of a few more on here, do a search and make your own decision based on the results.

And their lockup clutches burn up quick too, they run super-hot and the torrington bearings come apart inside. TCI's are ok in these cars, but I've seen way too many problematic B&M's. Bottom line is that you need to match the converter to the car's setup or else you'll never get the maximum out of your mods.
