have a question about what kind of cam would be good for me

i have a 89 305 tpi with that peanut cam

what cam or specs would be best with my setup that would give a good gain but not be to much for the 305 with this setup

ported stock tpi and slightly siamezed base, mildly ported stock heads, headers and full exhaust, built tranny with 2500 converter, and 3.73 gears

so i want to up the rpm potential of the motor so im looking for mid to high rpm torq

thanks for any input

I bought an LT1 cam the other day, and it should be here tomorrow. I have the same cam as you. The LT1 cam looks VERY similar to the L98 cam (which is the same that's in the "HO" 305TPI that puts out 220hp), so it'd probably give at least a peak 25HP boost, and probably more in the upper RPMs. I decided to go with an LT1 cam because they can be had for ~$40 shipped and they will give me a noticeable performance increase and will increase my upper RPM power quite a bit as well (I'm converting to the LT1 intake).

CamaroZ28 forums. I put up a post saying I wanted an LT1 cam, and I had like 3 people get back to me with prices of $40 shipped. The guy I bought mine from has another one as well.
