uhh ohhhh Not this topic again. This is like asking which came first the chiken or the egg. Go to DIY PROM and search because you won't get very far on this topic with out a argument. I know you didn't want to hear This But use Search more,

Yeah, search again, but limit it to the DIY Prom board.

We only say this because flame wars go started and there are many many posts about this.

When you are doing you searches try . . . "Why MAF is Better than MAP" or "Why does SD suck so much?"

Seriously though check out the majority of the posts made by Ski_Dwn_It - he had a MAF 406 SBC running 10s.
Good luck with your research!

jealous steve?
tell ya what... since you're a friend, i'll sell you my 91 SD harness and ECM for $400... of course if you sell your MAF harness, you'll get less, but hey, its a nice deal IMO.

My car runs!

And, yeah, I'll stand and watch the rear of your car . . . it's the only way I'll ever see the back-end of that thing at the strip!

BOOYAH!!

pushing it around doesnt count.

you dont have the new motor together yet and i know it.

besides, you look at my rear all the time.. (and that disturbs me)

True, the 400 isn't done but the 355 is still in there and it still runs great.

Took a co-worker out for a ride in the MAF IROC and had him giggling like an idiot at the top of 4th and screaming half-way thru 5th.

MAF is a wonderful thing.
As long as you can control spark and fuel nothing is impossible.

Chicken or the egg...

Yea, thats about it. SD is going to be easier to tune, although you can tune the MAF too you just have to think more I doubt you are going to see any significant power change between the 2 unless the MAF really is restricting your intake side. I think the runners and base on a TPI take care of restriction better than a MAF though.

I totally agree.
They just don't flow enough to create the power the majority of us are looking for.

So it's time to port the stocker. . . or buy a new intake tract system (SR, MR, HSR,) and port it.

By the time your MAF becomes a flow restriction you should be making MAD HP!
