Hard to Start TPI 305

Please help, I have a 86 iroc 305ci with a 700r4 that just does not want to start. It only has a hard time starting the first time. after that it starts fine. It has already been given a complete tune up including ignition module and tps sensor. I did notice the other day when I got into the gas good I heard a back fire in the intake manifold. I am lost. Has anyone incountered this before. I am starting to think that she might have jumped time. It does have 122,000 miles. I have had it on a snap on scanner and a scope and the MAP, O2, and Air temp sensors all seem to work fine.

It sounds like the battery is about gone on it. It doesn't appear to be holding a charge. That would explain why it starts fine all other times because it gets charged up once it's been running then once it sits for a while the battery starts to drain.

what I ment by hard to start is that it cranks and cranks. To get it to start I have to depress the gas pedal as if it was carburated. IT will usually spit and sputter until it gets warmed up, simular to if you had a huge vacume leak or it was out of time but I checked both and it seemes to be ok there.

It almost sounds like your STARTER is sticking or going bad. I had the same problem with it wanting to start sometimes and not others. Replaced the starter and haven't had any problems since. Just a thought.

it cranks fine. There is nothing wrong with the ignition system, starter, fuel system or the battery.
