power gains with Ram air Hood

What kind of power gains do you think I would see if I added a Ram air hood and the air box to a stock TPI 350 (with exaust/headers)?
I am looking at getting my car painted in the next 4-6 weeks and I am going to need a new hood I have always been torn between the SS and the Ram air hood. if there is a good increase in performance between the stock air box, and the ram air set -up I just might go for the ram air.

thanks

I would venture a good guess that the "ram air" hood and box would help your power, mostly in the throttle response neighborhood just by being freer flowing. GM did rate the late model Trans am with a little more power and they claim that was due to the freer flowing air intake, maybe other things too though. For me, I just got the "ram air" hood for the looks, I made my own CAI. I think the whole hood and air box setup is just too expensive for what its worth. If you decide to go with it, let us know how it works out for you. Again, I am sure you would notice something, but I can't say how profound of a gain the "ram air" would make on the engine.

Engines like cooler denser air. You can get cooler air from the openings in the hoods. But the gains wouldn't be anything more then you could get with a good CAI. Just my 2cents.

(I have an SShood so I'm not bashing them, they look good - but looks and lighter weight is the best thing they have going for them - not significant hp adders)

Ive seen several dyno comparisons showing no increase what so ever. With the exception of one, that showed an increase of 1hp, and 2ftlbs, (these are averages of multiple runs)

im still putting one on, looks cool, im sure the throttle response is better as well.

BTW, there were several tests that showed an increase, but i only mentioned the ones that went from CAI to ram air, not stock to ram air. Stock to ram air will always yeild increase, less you own a diablo or alike.

Never put them on the scales but I would say 30-40lbs lighter...
