Is the CalMap software required for the street ram setup?

I am assuming you mean stealth ram. (Mfg by Holley). Anyways the Calmap software is the software for the Holley Commander 950 computer I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

If you don't do any cam/heads change I'm confident you can get by w/ the stock cpu for awhile. Start doing anymore modifications then you will have to look into tuning the FI either by burning proms for the factory computer, or getting a dfi system like the Holley Commander 950 computer.

Streetram is a system too - by accell it reminds me of the FAST setup because it is long tube runner dual plane intake and it looks just like the TPI except it is noticeably larger (better flowing). Whether it is equal to the FAST system I cannot say.

I imagine you'd need the calmap software if of course you don't already have TPI EFI.

The Street Ram is a beefed up TPI system sold by Accel. It consists of the Accel base, runners, and ported plenum. It's meant to be used in TPI retrofits.

The Calmap software is the interface used by the Accel DFI systems. You wouldn't need Calmap/DFI unless you're doing a TPI retrofit. And it would probably be more cost effective to just use a GM ECM and nice aftermarket wiring harness.

My car is TBI. The whole setup includes wiring harness and an ECM I believe. Would an aftermarket chip work in it thats meant for the original GM?

Calmap/DFI doesn't use chips. The Calmap software is used to edit fuel and spark tables in the DFI box.
