Fuel Pump not working after rebuild

Rebuilt the 305 in the 85 ta. Turned key to the on position and waited for the fuel guage to show pressure and NOTHING. Truned the key twice to prime the lines and I didn't hear the pump. It worked befor i rebuilt the motor. any possible leads to the cause of this.

I do have a tpichip, installed but then again i tried it with the stock chip and nothing was heard also. does an 85 have vats security and would it affect the fuel pump from coming on.

also grounded the A and B terminal on the ALDL and the check engine didn't fash the 12 three times infact it didn't go on at all any references to why that is.

They have the the fuel pump relay ran through the oil pressure sensor. That way if the oil pressure drops to zero it shuts the fuel pump off to protect your engine. It works also as I was really hauling around a corner once to the point where the oil sloshed away from the pickup and the engine stopped momentarily till I straightened it out and the oil pressure returned and the engine took off again.check the wiring around the oil pressure sensor.there are 2 of them as I recall, one for the guage and another for the warning light.can't recall which one is the one you are looking for.

The oil pressure switch has nothing to do with shutting off the pump. It is merely a back up for the relay. If the relay fails, the switch powers the pump, assuming there is 4psi oil pressure.

Have you tried the fuel pump prime test connector under the hood to see if it runs from there?
