swapping 305 tpi over to 350 setup
i used to have a 305 tpi
im having a 350 long block prepared for me, machined and all
the long block consists of my 305 heads, which were done over as well, im not sure if they were changed in any way
i was originally going to put the heads on my 305 block but decided to go with a 350
i think i have a hydraulic flat tappet cam, ill get back to you guys on info.
basically my question is, can i use the same MAF sensor in my 350 setup? or should i change it.... i was having a few problems with it when it was in my 305, crappy idle occasionally, and some stalling... but it wasnt constant.
-Thanks a lot guys

Yes it will work. As to its efficiency, well, things are often times left to be desired. But, at any rate, everything will bolt up fine. All sensors will be good to go. Might want to look into changing the knock sensor out for a 350 KS, though.
As for the cam, it's hard to have a roller cam with flat tappet lifters. If you do, I would say the intake swap is the least of your concerns at the moment. If you have a hydraulic roller cam, you need hydraulic roller lifters. Vice versa also aplies with flat tappets. Blame it on the lobe profiles and materials. Steeper lobes and, most of the time, steel cores for roller cams versus the lazier ramps and iron cores for flats. Wear and tear reasons.

hmm i see... i really haev to call the guy thats doing it for me and find out exactly what he's putting in it... thanks a lot. also do i have to break in the engine when i start it up the first time with a roller cam? if so how high of rpm and how long? what about if i had a flat tappet

Roller cams do not requre the break in that flat tappets require. When I put a roller in my friends 91 Z, I just liberally coated with 30w oil and stuffed it in. ~3000 miles later, no complaints. If you have a flat tappet, coat the cam and tappet to cam lobe faces with lots of cam lube, about 20 minutes at 2500 rpm. Change the oil imidiatly there after to get the cam lube out.
However, if new rings are installed, you will have to go through the proper engine break in procedures to seat the rings correctly. So if that's the case, either way, a break in is needed.
