TPI performance increase?
Hi, I have an 87 Chevy Iroc-Z with a 305 TPI engine with the 700R4 transmission. I was wondering if there is a way to improve the performance of my car while on a budget, but I still want there to be atleast a little bit of horsepower and torque increase. Thanks.

I don't know your budget but I would start out with a good set of 1 5/8" headers. I would install these with the idea of improving the rest of the exhaust system as money permits.
Once the exhaust system has been upgraded you will see larger improvements with any intake system improvements. Another one would be 1.6 roller rockers. Allen

Hey, Allen thanks for the reply. Sounds like a good suggestion, I was thinkng along the lines of adding headers, my car still has the old manifolds. Headers would make a definite improvement. Also, good luck with reaching your goal, 400 HP. Thanks.

check my sig for other ideas. as was already stated, headers, catback exhaust, then cam. i am guessing you have the peanut cam like i had so as long as the rest of your engine is healthy, after the exhaust is done i would install a cam, and port match the intake. with the correct cam and a good exhaust, you should be 14.6-14.8 at about 94mph, faster if you install a torque converter or port the heads, your stock gears are probably fine if you have 3.23s.
