my 92 GTA just out of the blue won't idle. The car runs perfect as long as you don't have to idle. There are no codes in the computer. My husband created a vacuum leak @ a vacuum port by the map sensor and it idles with this leak and runs ok, only problem with that is my a/c won't blow out of the vents with this vacuum leak he created. If there are no codes, could it still be possible the iac motor could be bad? PLEASE help as this is driving me crazy!!!!

 

Take out the IAC and see if it is covered in junk. If it is, that is probably your problem. Clean it and the throttle body like the tech article says. Then you will know if the IAC is your problem or not.
It is a painless procedure.

Often it's an IAC problem.

If you have a ScanTool, Diacom or some other data logger, you can monitor the IAC counts. At idle they should be in the 20 range and the numbers should rapidly rise and fall as you blip the throttle.

Remember, it's all about the numbers, so investing in a data logger is a extremely worth while investment. You'll end up using it so often you'll wonder how you ever got along without one.
