the great injector debate
ok i have most all parts i need to complete the engine and i cant wait to get it finished!!! but i need some advise on injectors.
was a tpi now running a HSR
383
10.5:1 compression
trickflow 23 degree heads
comp cam 281/288 adv 230/236 @ .050 .544/.555 lift w/1.6rr's
150 WET shot N2O
should be around 460 hp 490 tq...
ive heard everything from 24# - 36# injectors is what i need and i need to know for sure now!! im leaning towards the 30# since i can find them everywhere for cheap and ive heard many many people say they would be sufficient......input please! :hail:

If I were you, and you were really making that much power, I'd go 36pph - if I were drag racing a lot. The 30s would be pushing it with that much power, assuming you're spinning it pretty high - as suggested by that cam, and those heads.
What fuel injection system (computer) are you going to use? and how often are you going to be spinning it to redline? If you are using a stock system with closed loop idle and regular driving, the 30's may prove a little easier to tune, and obtain a decent idle, and the injector duty cycle at full load can be pushed a little beyond the normally desireable 85% max and even run static if your engine is a little better than expected. If you're using an aftermarket EFI, then just get 36's and a wideband and go to town.

I'd say 30# unless it's a dry nitrous system. Then I'd say 36#, just DO NOT buy Accel, you'll regret it.

im using the stock TPI computer and will be redlining every so often. it will see some track time but not a whole lot due to my time constraints. so street driving is the MAIN concern. im still running heavy chrome rims...lol
as far as the accel thing...why would i regret those so much?? i really havent heard anything bad about them.

I hope you realize running the stock computer is okay, but there's no way the stock prom will work with this. You are into burning and tuning proms, right?
If not, you better have a REAL GOOD FRIEND who is. Otherwise, you'll never get that baby to run......
Just my
As for your question - I'm running 24's on my SuperRam 383 just fine. You'll need more with the NO2 shot, but I would think the 30's would probably handle it. At least the injectors aren't too hard to change on an HSR if I'm wrong.

any more help?
ttt guys. i need just a few more opinions from some with more EFI skills than me. i can choose pretty much between 30, 32, or 36 injectors. im leaning towards the 30's due availability and price only. the nitrous system is a wet system and why do i need to stray from accell?????

If you are going to sit down and really tune it go with the 36# ones. If you are going to mail order the chip, 30#. People just don't like the Accel injectors. Don't know as I always use the motorcraft ones.

well im going to get a really good tune done. totalengineairflow in bowling green i heard is awesome. they are going to burn my chip and tune the car for me when i get everything in.
now are all ford 30# injectors with red tops the SVO ones? ive seen quite a few on ebay but they just say ford injectors.
and will my tune matter if i am switching trannys and rear ends with different gears later on?

SVO redtops, 30#'s
Use the formula for determining injector size. Its based on HP. Although its always best to datalog to see if you need more or less injector. 30lbers are good for 450-500hp.

I have 24# SVO's on my HSR and they're blue. I'd go with 30#'s on your setup.
And if you're running a wet kit you don't need to up the injector size, that's what the "wet" is for. Just make sure you have a decent fuel pump, my pressure safety switch kicked in on 100 shot.
And burn a chip. With 30# injectors and a HSR you're going to be running WAY fat in your regular driving range, you'll probably get like 5-6 mpg. I burned my own chip (over 30 chips actually) and I get 21.5 MPG with my HSR/24# injectors.

well im goinna throw my nitrous on this engine jsut for kicks and until the new one is built. the new one will defenitly have a sufficient pump (gonna install when the car is down for winter) and DEFENITLY getting a chip burned
