400+HP HSR owners chime in!!!
ok heres the deal i'm planing a engine swap and was goin to do the LS1 swap but for some reasons i decided against it. So who out there is running a holley stealth ram setup on a 350 engine and has 400+ N/A RWHP??? if you would please share the rest of ur setup with me ie cam heads etc. or does anyone have a idea of what it will take to make this kind of power with a HSR setup. oh by the way i plan on using a ZZ4 short block as the starting point. thanx

Dont think the ZZ4 shortblock will hold 400rwhp. Thats like 500 on the crank. Think the rods only rated at 450. I wouldnt push that. Think on a 350 tho, your gonna need some serious stuff. do a 383 for that power.
My guess 195-210 cc heads that flow good like AFR or others. ZZ409 cam or bigger, HSR and one hellofa tune. Should be close. you will be looking for high rpms

You don't need a 383 to make 400rwhp. And 450-500 hp won't break a PM rod. UNLESS that power is made at 8,000rpm.
You won't have to spin the HSR quite that high, but RPM kills a motor much faster than power output.
Put a 150 shot on a 305 and shift at 5k. Then take an all motor (built top end) 305 and shift at 7500 (if it'll make it).
Point is, you should be able to see your goal at less than 7000rpm. But it's not easy. I've chose to use the protopline200cc heads, a cc306, to match w/ the HSR. If I get close to 400, I'll be estatic.

good to know, GM rates those PM rods at 450hp so I thought it wouldnt be good to do some serious work to a motor with those rods. I want to get the ZZ4 shortblock and add heads/superram.
Will those rods hold 400 crank hp at 5800rpm?

I used to spin mine to 6500 and spray 100 shot on it. They did pretty well. the 450 mark is to cover their AS$e$

Do you have ANY idea about what that might be putting down? Track times? Engine dyno sheet? Are you just assuming you have 400 at the crank? Also, what are the specs on your cam?
Cam is a Comp XR282HR. 230*/236* @ 0.050", .544"/.555" w/ 1.6:1s, 110* LSA

Many articles claim that with a good buil up with heads and the rest with a HSR 400 hp at the crank is perfectly attainable. Provided a good tune on the 355. Most people can put down a 12 second 1/4 mile. My combo is in the sig if it appears.
Did not appear so:
engine:flat top hypereutectic antifriction/heat coated 9.8:1 CR. bored .030 over. deck milled .010 All ARP bolts and studs Moly rings. Double roller timing chain, LT4 "Hot" cam .525 lift and 518 528 duration at .050, Comp cams pushrods, 1.6 roller rockers, Trick Flow Specialties Kenny Dutteweiler aluminum heads, Total emissions delete
tranny:Heavy duty T-5 with a spare T-5.
exhaust:Hooker Super Competition Long tube Ceramic coated headers. TRUE dual exhaust. Cheap glass pack muflers
Ignition: MSD everything with 6A box.
Air/fuel: Holley (Walbro) 49 lbs lbs per hour fuel pump, stainless steel braided 6-AN line Accel 30 lbs/hr injectors. Holley AFPR. Stealth ram with AFPR
ECM: Mega Squirt stand alone fuel managment
rear end: Borg Warner nine bolt with 3.45 and discs
suspension: Energy suspension.

well the 460 and 490 numbers are N/A numbers without the n2o, its not the exact cam but extremly close, and well see how accurate dd2000 really is come spring when i can get a very good tune done. ive heard dd2000 can be off by as much as 50hp, and while i dont think its quite that much im guessing is probably overestimates a slight amount o well at least theres always juice to put me over 500
